DuBois Wastewater Treatment Solutions Clean Water, While Minimizing Sludge and Product Usage

OPPORTUNITY:

The customer is a manufacturer and supplier of galvanized telecommunications and information technology equipment. In their manufacturing process, the customer utilized a continuous flow 8,000 gallon per day pretreatment system. This system employs DuBois zinc phosphate products, while the wastewater treatment system was maintained by a competitor. Historically, the competitor used ferric chloride for primary coagulation in the process.
The customer, satisfied with the support they’d received on their pretreatment system, asked their DuBois team to create a new wastewater treatment solution. In doing so, they wished to eliminate the use of ferric chloride, meet all required discharge limits, reduce their overall product usage, and consolidate to one chemical supplier to optimize their purchasing processes.

THE DUBOIS SOLUTION:

Upon evaluating the system, and with a unique understanding of the zinc system employed upstream, the DuBois Technical Team implemented a system with Coagulite 300, Coagulite 450, and Floculite 551. This combination is ideal for canceling the charges holding zinc particles and other contaminants in suspension, binding them together in large flocculant particles, and bridging the particles together to separate rapidly. They excel at flocculating precipitated heavy metals and, in many cases, result in less sludge volume, indicating a very effective separation.

RESULTS AND BENEFITS:

The DuBois Technical Team was on hand to implement and monitor the new wastewater treatment process and remained on hand for the week following. The customer was very satisfied with the products’ ability to effectively treat their water without requiring ferric chloride. In describing the benefits of the new program, the customer included the following:
