Case Studies:

Transit-Jel Effectively Removes Difficult Soils from Vertical Surfaces

OPPORTUNITY:

The customer owns a variety of vehicles utilized in city-wide operations. One of their vehicles became coated in a hydraulic oil
that was found to be particularly difficult to remove. Typically, trucks are brought not a steam rack for an initial rinse, and then
run through a truck wash for a full cleaning. When this process failed to remove the oil, a professional truck cleaning service
was tasked, again with no success. An engine degreaser was also tested, but the oil stubbornly remained. After weeks of the
oil cooking in the sun, the customer was unsure if there was any chance of removal without impacting paint adhesion. The
customer, a long-time user of DuBois products, called their technical expert for help.

THE DUBOIS SOLUTION:

DuBois partnered with the customer to implement Transit-Jel. Transit-Jel is a versatile, mildly alkaline cleaner. When applied
through standard foaming equipment at a recommended dilution, a thin gel is created. This thickened solution clings strongly
to the surface, ensuring intimate contact and extended cling time for tough soils. The increased contact time allows the
cleaner to penetrate and react with soils, facilitating their complete removal from surfaces. It is also specially formulated to be
phosphate-free and non-corrosive, to ensure environmental and personnel safety while getting the job done.

RESULTS AND BENEFITS:

The customer sprayed Transit-Jel onto the truck for five to ten minutes and manually scrubbed with a soft bristle brush,
followed by an ambient pressure wash rinse. This process was able to fully remove the tar that had been stuck there for more
than five weeks. The customer also noticed that, with Transit-Jel’s extended cling time, they did not have to continuously respray
surfaces to ensure cleaning action, further saving time and water, and the low foam profile made the residue much
easier to wash down the drain.
