The customer is an aluminum wheel hub manufacturer. In their cutting and grinding operations, the customer utilized a competitor’s multi-metal semi-synthetic fluid. In these processes, the manufacturer was experiencing frequent tool failures and biological issues that decreased their sump life and minimized recyclability options. Amid the odor, foam, and misting, they also struggled to maintain a clean and safe working environment. The manufacturer reached out to their DuBois technical team, who serviced other applications in their facility. While surveying the system, they requested a product that was high performing on aluminum and steel, capable in both central systems and individual machines, did not foam at high pressure (1000 psi) and soft water (100 umhos), and eliminated their tool life and biological activity concerns.
The DuBois team partnered with the manufacturer to implement GX Cool 3890CSL. GX Cool 3890CSL is a premium grade, emulsifiable metalworking fluid for heavy-duty machining and grinding of all metals, including automotive cast aluminum. It is a clean running, bio-stable coolant that provides excellent tool life and surface finish. It is specifically formulated with outstanding extreme pressure characteristics and easily mixes in all kinds of water. GX Cool 3890CSL is a DuBois favorite and has seen significant success in the medical, automotive, and contract manufacturing industries, both because of its performance and its high operator acceptance due to its pleasing odor and good rancidity control.
When applied, the GX Cool 3890CSL vastly outperformed the competitive product. The customer reported that their tool life doubled, and they were able to reduce tap usage from 153 taps per month down to 28 – an 81.7% decrease! The biological and oily residues caused by the competitive product were eliminated, increasing sump life and ending odor complaints. The manufacturer is very impressed with how the GX Cool 3890CSL solved their problems and they look forward to partnering with their DuBois technical team on future projects.
Non-oil containing metalworking fluids are synthetic coolants designed for moderate to heavy-duty machining and grinding on various metals. They provide excellent performance and extended sump life without the use of oil, while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
Water Soluble Synthetic Fluid
PERKOOL 714 is an outstanding water-soluble synthetic coolant developed for a wide range of cutting and grinding operations on predominantly ferrous alloys including cast iron.
Metalworking Fluid
CIMTECH® 600HFP is an innovative non-oil containing metalworking fluid, featuring a hybrid blend of patented and synthetic lubricants. This unique blend of lubricants provides synergistic performance on difficult-to-machine ferrous and non-ferrous alloys without corrosion or stain. It even outperforms sulfo-chlorinated metalworking fluids, but does not contain any EP lubricants.
CIMTECH® 3150-VLZ is a synthetic metalworking fluid recommended for moderate to heavy duty machining and grinding operations.
Synthetic Cutting and Grinding Fluid
DOUBLE-CUT TOPAZ 82 is an outstanding synthetic fluid developed for a wide range of cutting and grinding applications. It is formulated for use on ferrous metals only and is particularly effective on cast iron.
CIMTECH® 310 metalworking fluid is a unique, low pH synthetic fluid approved for use in the aerospace industry. It is recommended for moderate to heavy duty grinding applications.
CIMTECH® 410C metalworking fluid is recommended for machining and grinding operations for ferrous metals.
DOUBLE-CUT TOPAZ 73S is an oil-rejecting synthetic fluid developed for a wide range of applications on various metals including brass, aluminum, all steels, and many alloys.
Emulsifiable Metalworking Fluid
GX COOL 3890CSL is a premium grade, emulsifiable metalworking fluid for heavy duty machining and grinding of all metals, including automotive cast aluminum. It is a clean running, bio-stable, machining and grinding coolant that provides excellent tool life and surface finish.
Oil-containing metalworking fluids are semi-synthetic or emulsifiable coolants designed for moderate to heavy-duty machining and grinding operations on various metals, including aluminum and ferrous alloys. These fluids provide excellent lubricity, extreme pressure characteristics, and corrosion protection, resulting in extended tool life and superior surface finish, while maintaining a clean and stable working environment.
Semi-Synthetic Metal Removal Fluid
PERKOOL 5444 is a chlorinated, medium oil content semi-synthetic metalworking fluid which utilizes the newest and most advanced materials in the market today.
PERKOOL 5440 is a moderate oil content semi-synthetic coolant that utilizes the newest and most advanced materials in the market today. A superior lubrication package has been incorporated into this product to manage even the toughest of applications.
Cutting & Grinding Fluid
Perkool 5424 is a premium low oil, semi cutting, grinding, and light forming fluid for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Perkool 5424 is engineered to reduce misting and fluid carry-off, so use cost is minimized.
PERKOOL 5420 is a low oil content semi-synthetic coolant that utilizes the newest and most advanced materials in the market today. A superior lubrication package has been incorporated into this product to handle even the toughest applications.
CIMPULSE™ 53MP is a multi-purpose, moderate-duty fluid for machining and grinding. It offers high performance without the use of traditional extreme pressure lubricants. It is recommended for turning, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, tapping, broaching, sawing, and grinding.
Semi-Synthetic Coolant
PERKOOL 5250-TF is a versatile, biostable, non-phenolic, semi-synthetic lubricant designed for a wide variety of machining operations.
CIMSTAR® 60C-HFP is a premium semi-synthetic metalworking fluid that contains a chlorinated extreme pressure (EP) lubricant for heavy duty operations.
PERKOOL 4110-V is an outstanding semi-synthetic coolant designed for a wide range of machining operations and specifically the high-speed functions of CNC equipment.
