When a proper risk assessment and established Water Safety Plan dictates the need, we supply and offer support services for many secondary disinfection technologies including monochloramine generators, copper-silver ionization, and point-of-use Legionella filters. Selecting the appropriate solution for your site requires knowledge of your water systems and your building risk profile. Our team of water safety experts provide consultation on water system design, temperature controls, appropriate corrective actions, and can assist in developing the best secondary treatment strategies specific to your site.
Building water systems may require decontamination for various reasons including cooling tower start-up, biological fouling, or response to positive Legionella test results. We provide a decontamination kit to address such situations.
Point Of Use Filtration
With the issuance of SC17-30 in June 2017, CMS has mandated that every hospital and long term care facility have a Water Safety Plan to protect patients and staff from the risks of waterborne pathogens such as Legionella. When dictated by a Water Safety Plan, pont-of-use filtration is a valuable tool to minimize exposure to Legionella. The filtration solutions offered through DuBois include,
Shower Filter Solutions – Due to the transfer of bacteria through atomization, showers are one of the primary sources of patient exposure.
Sink Filter Solutions – Sinks are another primary source of exposure due to the possibility of atomization. Filters that can be plumbed into existing lines, or can be easily attached to sink spouts.
Ice Machine Filter Solutions – Ice machines are critical control points of every hospital’s Water Safety Plan. DuBois offers ice machines filters that not only better remove harmful bacteria and viruses, but do so with a longer useful life and use cost than the competition.
Monochloramine Generation
Monochloramine Generators is used to generate monochloramine for use as a secondary disinfection in water systems for the control of Legionella and other harmful bacteria. Monochloramine is a preferred method over other secondary disinfection chemistries (such as chlorine/hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide) as it is safe to use on materials common in water systems such as polyolefin plastics (which get hardened and cracked by other oxidizers,) copper, galvanized, and stainless steel.
Monochloramine is a weaker oxidant than chlorine, hypochlorite, or chlorine dioxide, which is an advantage in large water systems. Monochlorimaine will last longer in solution than these other oxidants, allowing it to better penetrate biofilm as well as persist in long runs and dead legs common in many water systems.
Monochloramine Generators offered by DuBois are automated, remote-controllable, and equipped with high standard safety devices. These generators produce high purity monochloramine while limiting harmful reaction by-products.
